Gramvousa - Balos

Elafonisi
Elafonisi is an island located near the southwestern tip of the Mediterranean island of Crete, to which it belongs administratively, within the regional unit of Chania. The white and pink sand of thousands of broken shells, the clear blue-green waters, the small coves and the secluded tiny beaches remind travelers of a lost paradise.

An island adventure in the hottest spot in Europe. The adventure starts from the beautiful city of Ierapetra, located on the south coast of the island. From here a boat trip takes you to the secluded island of Chrysi. Due to its incomparable beauty and unique ecosystem, it is under the protection of the Natura 2000 Networking Program, as a wildlife refuge and “area of intense natural beauty”. The pristine beaches of the myriad shellfish fossils in volcanic rocks – remnants of the time when the island sank in the sea.
